Gerald J. Hosford, Sr., Bunnell City Clerk, died about 8:45 Tuesday evening in the Halifax Hospital. Mr. Hosford, who was 59 years of age, was stricken with a heart attack while attending a meeting of the Daytona Beach Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. He was rushed in an ambulance to the hospital where he died shortly after his arrival.
Mr. Hosford was active in Masonic circles and was serving as secretary of the local Masonic Lodge, and also as Worthy Patron of the Bunnell Chapter of Eastern Star. He was a Past Master of Bunnell Masonic Lodge No. 200.
He was born in California but had lived in Wauwautosa, Wis., for many years before coming to Flagler County in 1919.
Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon in the Bunnell Baptist Church, with Rev. W. Ware officiating. The body will lie in state in the church from 1 o'clock Friday afternoon until the funeral hour. Masonic services will be held at the graveside and members of the Eastern Star will attend in body.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Naomi Hosford, Bunnell; three sons, John Hosford, Haw Creek; MSgt. Gerald J. Hosford, Jr., Topeka, Kans., and Richard Hosford of Council Bluffs, Iowa; three daughters, Mrs. Marion Bucknam, White Lake, Wis.; Mrs. Carolyn Durrance and Mrs. Naomi Rodgers of Bunnell. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren.
Active pallbearers are Henry Wells, K. K. Knight, T. E. Holden, Walter Knight, Otis Hunter, and John Rice. Honorary are L. H. Drady, Harry Clegg, Harold Bowden, Hazen Benson, Harold Emery, and Duane Deen.
