Elzie A. Hunter, lifelong resident of Flagler County, passed away early Thursday morning after a brief illness.

He suffered a stroke Wednesday morning while hunting and was carried by ambulance to the Flagler Clinic and Hospital where he died about 2 o'clock Thursday morning. He was 75 years of age.

Mr. Hunter was born and had lived all his life in Espanola. He was a retired farmer and cattleman. He had served as County Commissioner from District Five for 28 years, retiring three years ago.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bunnell and had served as deacon for many years, retiring about three years ago. He was also a member of the local Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Etta Hunter, Espanola; four sons, Kenneth Hunter, Otis Hunter, and Wilfred Hunter of Bunnell, and Howard Hunter of Orlando; three sisters, Mrs. W. E. Kudrna of Bunnell; Mrs. Kenneth Biddle of Lake Geneva, and Mrs. Maude Lloyd of Jacksonville. Also surviving are seven grand children, and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the First Baptist Church at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. The pastor, Rev. Thomas Pinner, officiated. Interment followed in the Espanola Cemetery. Garcia Funeral Home of St. Augustine was in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers were Duane Deen, O. F. Alford, C. O. Magee, H. H. Murray, L. L. Harris and J. B. Matherly.

Honorary bearers were L. M. Whitaker, Walter Cody, Raymond Smith, R. A. Powell, Harold Emery, Roger Edwards, George Wickline, C. H. Cowart, Alfred Tucker, H. T. Cook, Jack Clegg, and Dean Holland.
