Kinney Kellum Knight, well known Flagler County farmer and cattleman, died at 8 o'clock Monday evening in Palatka hospital following it long illness.

Mr. Knight, who was 60 years of age, was born in Lake Butler, Florida, and came to Flagler County in 1898 with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Knight, Sr., of Haw Creek.

He attended Stetson College in DeLand and the University of Florida in Gainesville where he was active in athletics, and was state collegiate tennis champion, He was an ardent baseball fan, playing with the Flagler County teams during the early years the county and later acted as official umpire for many years.

Well-known in Flagler County political circles, he had served as chairman of the Flagler County School Board for several two-year terms. He was a member of the Flagler County Board of Commissioners from 1937-48, serving as chairman of the board several years during that time.

Mr. Knight had engaged in the farming industry and cattle business in the Haw Creek section over 35 years and for the past 12 years he has resided in Flagler Beach.

He was a World War I veteran, member of the First Baptist Church of Bunnell, and, a Mason.

He is survived by his widow, Esther; one son, Dexter Knight, Flagler Beach; three sisters, Mrs. Edith Singletary, Jacksonville; Mrs. Freda Dunn, Ft. Worth, Texas, and Mrs. Alice Hall of Bunnell; three brothers, Walter E. Knight of Bunnell; Col. Dan B. Knight, U. S. Army Ret., DeLand, and Dr. Claude M. Knight, Palatka.

Funeral services were held at 3 P. M. Wednesday afternoon from the First Baptist Church of Bunnell where the body lay in state from 1 o'clock until the funeral hour. Rev. E. W. Ware, pastor of the church, officiated. Burial services were conducted by the Bunnell Masonic Lodge at the family plot in the Crescent City Cemetery. Carl Davis and Son of Palatka were in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers were: R. W. Deen, Jr., Custer Durrance, Curtis Deen, Raymond Tucker, Z. G. Holland, Jr., J. F. Gresham. Honorary were: Walter Cody, R. W. Deen, Sr., Henry Wells, Elzie Hunter, A. C. Rodgers; G. W. Lee, Frank Mercer; D. D. Moody, O. F. Alford, John Rice, M. R. Fuller, John Burrell, H. T. Cook, and Glenn Miller.
