Automobile accidents claimed the lives of two young Flagler County people over the weekend and left a third in fair condition.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a car driven by Harry James DeNyse, 17, Palm Coast, went out of control on Clubhouse Drive Friday night, skidding 268 feet and hitting a concrete pole.

A passenger, Mary "Holly" Kreutz, 15, of 30 Fairview Lane, died in the crash. Another passenger, Paul Klinkenberg, 17, of 6 Casper Court in Palm Coast was seriously injured. As of Wednesday, he was reported to be in fair condition at Bunnell General Hospital.

DeNyse, whose condition was described as good, was treated in the emergency room of the hospital and released.

Charges are pending until the investigation is completed, according to the FHP Trooper J.C. Pfeiffer is in charge of the accident investigation and G.C. Thomas is handling the homicide investigation. .

In a separate incident, Lynnea Samuelson of Painter's Hill died Saturday night following a single car crash on State Road 15 south of Dunn's Creek. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that Miss Samuelson's vehicle went out of control as it traveled south on the road, going off the west shoulder. The car struck a utility pole and several small trees.

The incident is still under investigation by J. A. Johns of the FHP, with R.W. Strickler in charge of the homicide investigation.

Funeral services for Miss Samuelson were held Tuesday at Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church in Flagler Beach. Services for Miss Kreutz were held in the same church on Wednesday.

Mary “Holly” Kreutz, 15, 30 Fairview Land, Palm Coast, died Friday evening from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born in San Francisco and moved to Palm Coast 6 months ago from Warwick, R.I. She was a sophomore at Flagler Palm Coast High School where she was voted “sweetheart queen” on Valentines Day and was a member of the Catholic Church.

Survivors include here parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kreutz; one sister, Kelly and one brother, Walter, all of Palm Coast.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at Santa Maria Del Mar Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Thomas Cody, officiating.  Interment was at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard Shaw, Rich Goodwin, Kirk Shumucker, Dennis Roberts, Anthony Legakis, and Jim Smith.
