Mrs. Sallie Lowe High, mother of the late J. B. High of Bunnell, passed away Wednesday evening, May 3, at the City hospital in Brunswick, Ga., following a short illness.

Mrs. High, who was 89 years of age, was born in Social Circle, Ga. She had resided in Brunswick for the past 50 years where she was active in various civic organizations. Although active in several organizations, it was the Young Women's Christian Association, which she organized over 30 years in Brunswick are due almost entirely to her efforts. She served as secretary from the time it was organized until 1949. She was also instrumental in securing the YW home there, which will stand as a monument to her.

Mrs. High served as president of the first Civic Club to be organized in Brunswick. The club later merged with the Woman's Club and she served as president of that organization in 1916-17 and again in 1929-30. She also served as District President of the club.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church there and taught the Philathea Class from 1915 to 1946 at which time in her honor the name of the Class was changed to High Philathea Class.

Mrs. High is survived by a grandson, Joseph Benton High, Jr., Frankfurt, Germany; two nieces, Mrs. Jens Faabourg and Miss Virginia George of St. Augustine. Also her daughter-in-law, Mrs. J. B. High of Bunnell.

Funeral services were held at four o'clock Friday afternoon from the First Methodist Church there, and burial followed at the Palmetto Cemetery.
