James May, aged 59, died this afternoon while being carried into a hospital in Daytona Beach, after several weeks of illness at this home here on the Dixie Highway. Arrangements were made this morning early to carry him to a hospital and an ambulance from Daytona Beach was sent to Bunnell to carry him.  Mr. J. M. Bowers, who accompanied the deceased in the ambulance said that Mr. May began sinking rapidly about the time the conveyance was crossing Tomoka River, and upon arrival at the hospital he was carried to a room but breathed his last shortly after reaching the institution.

The deceased was a native of England, coming to American 23 years ago, living in New Jersey for nine years, and coming to Flagler county where he resided until his death.

After coming to this county Mr. May engaged in the dairy business and only recently disposed of his dairy interest to operate a filling station, milk depot and lunch stand.

Before immigrating to the United States he was married to Miss Agatha Hooper, who followed her husband to this county three years later. The couple had no children born to them but several years ago adopted two, Sammie May, aged 14 and Catherine May, aged 9. Besides these the deceased is survived by two brothers in England and a sister in New Jersey.

The body was put in charge of Bingham and Maley, undertakers, of Daytona Beach. Funeral services and burial will be at Espanola Cemetery Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock.
