THE FLAGLER TRIBUNE
Bunnell, Florida
Thursday, December 16, 1920

Grandma Moody, mother of Mr. George Moody and for a number of years a resident and highly respected figure here, died at her home in Baxley, Ga., Sunday morning last just a few hours after her son reached her bedside.

Grandma Moody was a most lovable character and her friends in Bunnell and throughout the county were numbered by her acquaintances. Her presence here will be sadly missed and deeply mourned by a host of relatives and scores of friends.

The death of this good woman brings to mind more vividly the wonderful fortitude of her who but tow short years ago withstood the loss of two noble sons within a brief space of time, and marks the passing of the mother – man sustains no greater loss than this – of Robert Moody and I. I. Moody, victims of the plague that swept across the world prior to and following the close of the World War.

Bunnell has not been called upon to bear a loss greater that that sustained in the death of I. I. Moody, the father of Flagler County, the founder of Bunnell, the prime mover in the building of St. Johns and Flagler County’s portion of the great Dixie Highway, and a developer  - a strong character that could command but never lagged in the rear – who always lead. And Grandma Moody was rightfully proud of her boys, as Bunnell has ever been proud of her and her legacy to her county.

Peace be unto her ashes; her life a benediction to her kindred and friends.
