Mrs. Mary Jane Sophronia Deen of Seville, mother of James Emmet Deen of Bunnell, died Tuesday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. I. Grant of Jacksonville, following an illness of several months duration.

Mrs. Deen who was 82 years of age, was a native of Baxley, Ga., but spent the greater part of her life in Seville, where she was a member of the Methodist Church. She has been confined to the home of her daughter in Jacksonville for the past seven months. She underwent a major operation in a Jacksonville hospital several months ago.

She is survived by eight daughters, Mrs. F. I. Grant, Mrs. Alice Anders, and Mrs. Nettie Bennett of Jacksonville; Mrs. Arminda Harris, and Mrs. Mary Lou Nichols of Winter Haven; Mrs. Ella Waters, and Mrs. Kate Causey of Seville; and Mrs. Ethel Lawson of Oak Hill. Also one son, James Emmett Deen of Bunnell. There also survives a sister, Mrs. J. H. Thomas, Jacksonville; three brothers, D. P., D. W., and J. J. Miles all of Baxley; 48 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren, and one great­great-grandchild.

Following funeral services in the Key McCabe Funeral Home in Jacksonville Thursday morning the body was returned to Seville where burial was held from the Methodist Church at Three o'clock.
