Edward C Mitchum of Artesia, North AlA, was killed and four others critically injured in a two-car wreck four and half miles north of Flagler Beach early Friday evening. Riding in the station wagon with Mitchum was his wife who was seriously injured.

Mrs. Carolyn R Pyle of Jacksonville Beach died in the local hospital about three hours later. Curtis Clinton Garcia, driver of the second car involved in the wreck, died about noon Saturday. Mrs. Pyle and Mrs. Alice Chao, also of Jacksonville Beach, were passengers in the card driven by Garcia. Mrs. Mitchum and Mrs. Chao were seriously injured and are receiving treatment at the local hospital.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning in Jacksonville for Mr. Garcia. Services were held at Jacksonville Beach for Mrs. Pyle. Services will be held this week in Bessemer, Ala. for Mr. Mitchum. He is a former resident of Bessemer.

The body of Edward Cecil Mitchum, killed in an automobile accident north of Flagler Beach Friday, was sent to Bessemer, Ala., for funeral services and interment. Brown Funeral Home of that city was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mitchum, 36, of Route One, St. Augustine, was one of three persons killed in the two-car collision. He was born in Bessemer and served in the Navy during World War II.

He was employed in this area as an agent for the Western Southern Life Insurance Company. He had been a resident for the past year, coming from Alabama where he had been a post office employee.

Mr. Mitchum and his wife also operated a gift shop north of Flagler Beach.

He is survived by his wife, four daughters, Janice, Marilyn, Donna and Vanda. He has two sons, Sam and David and a sister, Mrs. Lois Green. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Mitchum of Bessemer.
