THE FLAGLER TRIBUNE
Bunnell, Florida
Thursday, June 2, 1949

David Salter, Jr., 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Salter, Sr., former residents of Bunnell, was instantly killed Tuesday in Jacksonville, when a jeep in which he was riding with Kendrick Morrison or Jacksonville, turned over. Morrison died Wednesday.

Joint funeral services were held this afternoon at 4:30 in Oaklawn Cemetery in Jacksonville.

The service was conducted by the Rev. T. H. Norton, pastor of the Lake Shore Methodist Church.

Investigating officers said the jeep occupied by the youths was traveling at a high speed across Ortega bridge approaching Jacksonville. The jeep headed into the parkway dividing San Juan Avenue on a curve, overturned, struck a pine tree and overturned again and landed on its wheels. Salter and Morrison were thrown from the machine.
