Stelios (Steve) Mitchell Mouzakis, owner and operator of the Dixiana Restaurant in Bunnell, died at 5:15 last Thursday, December 9, in the Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach following a short illness. He entered the hos­pital on November 28 for surgery and was recovering satisfactorily when he suffered a severe heart attack on Monday morning of last week. He was 62 years of age.

Steve, as he was familiarly known by his many friends, was born in Samos Island, Greece, and at one time studied in the Holy Land to become a priest of the Greek Orthodox Church. He came to the United States in 1911 and worked in New York, Chicago, and Detroit where he was in business for several years. He moved to Jacksonville Florida and owned and operated a Restaurant there for several years before coming to Bunnell in 1950. During the summer of 1954 he visited his former home on the Samos Island, spending three months there with relatives and friends.

Mr. Mouzakis is survived by his wife, Mrs. Louise Mouzakis of Bunnell; three brothers, Mike Mouzakis of Detroit Michigan, James and John Mouzakis of Samos Island; two sisters, Mary and Christalli also of Samos Island. Among the survivors are several nephews, among whom are Dr. John M. Canakaris of Bunnell, Mitchell and James Mouzakis of Detroit; one niece, Mrs. Mary Alexon of Detroit; a great nephew, Ronnie Canakaris, Bunnell and a great niece, Mary Alexon, Detroit.

Funeral services were held, here at 10 o'clock at the First Baptist Church with Rev. E.W. Ware officiating. Following the services held here the body was: carried to Jacksonville for services at the Greek Orthodox Church at two o'clock that afternoon. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery there. Funera1 arrangements were under the direction of Baggett McIntosh Funeral Home of Daytona Beach.

Pallbearers for the services here were M. B. Fuller, Alfred Tucker, Z. G. Holland Jr., L. E. Wadsworth, Raymond Smith, and Hoke Cobb. Honorary were W. H. Wells, John Rice, Charles Creal, R. Sturman, Dean Holland, R. W. Deen Jr., and O. F. Alford.
