Pete L. Newman, 57, 36 San Jose Drive, Ormond by the Sea, died Thursday at Bunnell General Hospital following an extended illness.

He was born in Richmond, Va. and moved to Ormond 2 years ago from Miami. He was a retired funeral director and was employed as chief inhalation therapist at Bunnell General Hospital. He was a member of the Flagler Beach. Community Memorial Church and was treasurer of the Flagler Beach Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife Elizabeth; two step-daughters, Mrs. Janet Cummins, Flagler Beach; and Mrs. Joan Schatz, Oak Hill; two step-sons, Charles W. Hoff, Ocala; and Harold Hoff, Baxley, Ga.; a sister, Mrs. Mary Taylor, Miami; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday afternoon at 2:00 in Craig Funeral Home Chapel, Bunnell, with the Rev. E. L. Stanton, Flagler Beach, officiating. Interment was in Shady Rest Cemetery at Holly Hill.

Active pallbearers were Robert Law, Keene Gurnee, Joe Evans, W. S. Beach, Joe Brock and Wilfred Hunter. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. J. M. Canakaris, Dr. Russell Blanton, Howard Wisehaupt, Gerald Glickstein and Ralph Hubbard.

Craig Funeral Home, Bunnell, was in charge.
