Grim tragedy stalks our highways constantly as can be attested by serious accidents and deaths among residents of Flagler County within the last few weeks. The latest victim to meet death was Allihden Christian, 5-year old grandchild of Mrs. J. S. Hankerson of Dupont, who was killed instantly Monday when she was struck by a truck on the Dixie Highway near home about noon.

W. H. Ellis, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, driver of the truck was held by officers here until an inquest was held, he being exonerated by the coroner's jury of blame for the death. According to reports the child had gone to a rural mail box on the highway, and in some manner became excited and ran into the side of the truck.

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning from the Methodist church here, with Rev. C. M. Samford officiating. Burial was made in Espanola Cemetery later in the morning.
