Four soldiers were drowned Tuesday night when an army armored car plunged off the bridge over Matanzas inlet, the car going into the channel, the southeast sector of the Eastern Defense Command announced.

The bodies of Technician First Grade George L. Montgomery of West Plains, Mo., and Technician Fourth Grade Bruce H. O’Dell of Bronxville, N. Y. were recovered by navy divers a few hours after the accident. The next day the bodies of Sgt. Mitchell C. Zakrezewski of Jersey City, N. J. and Technician Fifth Grade Edwin C. Erickson of Loma, N. D. were recovered.

The army announcement said the armored card skidded and went through the railing of the bridge, sinking upside down in 20 feet of water.
