THE FLAGLER TRIBUNE
Bunnell, Florida
Thursday, February 12, 1942

Marcus Pappy, 49, of St. Augustine, died suddenly Monday afternoon from a heart attack while hunting with several of his brothers in Graham Swamp about three-fourths of a mile north of the rock quarry on the Bunnell-Flagler Beach road.

He failed to come out of the woods in the late afternoon, so his companions attempted to attract his attention by the usual method - - firing their guns into the air, building fires, etc. Finally they returned to St. Augustine to get their father and returned to search the swamp during the night with flashlights. Tuesday morning one of the brothers came into Bunnell and got County Judge H. A. Eisenbach to go with the party while a further search was made. They found the body about 10 o'clock where he had died from a heart attack.

Apparently Mr. Pappy had found a flock of wild turkey and had killed two before he was stricken as two turkeys that had been shot were lying beside the body.

Surviving is the father, Marcus Pappy of Bayard; one son, Johnny; six brothers, Clarence, Zernie, Emory and Terrill of Jacksonville; Hubert of St. Augustine, and Euzeal of Bayard; also two sisters, Mrs. Ocia McLucas of St. Augustine and Mrs. Harold Eichholz of New Smyrna.

The body was buried at St. Augustine.
