Mrs. Sarah Poff, aged 62 years, died early Tuesday morning after apparently being kicked by a young heifer while Mrs. Poff was breaking the animal to being milked. The, accident occurred in the milking barn on the Poff farm in the Haw Creek section. Mrs. Poff was alone at the time of the accident, but was found shortly after by her son-in-law, Don Nolan, who had returned to the barn for oil to lubricate some farm machinery which he was using that day.

It was said that he found Mrs. Poff lying on the concrete floor of the barn near the penned-up heifer, and that Nolan carried Mrs. Poff into the house where she died without regaining consciousness. Nearby neighbors were called in by Mr. Nolan when he discovered the accident and they were present when she died, it was stated.

Mrs. Poff was a native of Red Lion, Pennsylvania, coming to Flagler County with her husband, H. W Poff, 18 years ago and settling on a large tract of land in the Haw Creek community. Mr. Poff died several years ago.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church here Wednesday afternoon, Rev. J. B. Culpepper, Jr., pastor of the church, assisted by his father, conducted the services. The body was shipped back to Pennsylvania by train that afternoon and will be buried at Red Lion upon its arrival there.

Surviving Mrs. Poff is one child, Mrs. Don Nolan, who resides on the home place here and several brothers and sisters, all of whom live in Pennsylvania.
