Rev. Charles M. Samford, former pastor of the local First Methodist Church, died at his home 636 Lenox Ave., Daytona Beach, following a long illness. He was 93 years of age. He was retired.

Born in Columbus, Georgia, he had entered the Methodist Ministry in New Mexico in 1924, serving later in the Colorado and the Florida Conferences. He has served the conference charges here, Key West, Tampa and Daytona Beach. He was a member of the Community Methodist Church in Daytona Beach.

Survivors include his wife, Adeline, Daytona Beach; two sons, General John A. Samford, Washington, D. C., and Charles C. Samford of Williamsburg, Virginia.

Services were held from the Baggett-McIntosh Funeral Chapel at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon with Rev. R. T. Richardson, pastor of the Community Methodist Church officiating. Interment followed at Cedar Hill Memory Gardens.
