L. Rudye Shamblen, 74, Water Oak, longtime resident of Flagler County, passed away Tuesday afternoon at Bunnell General Hospital.

Born in Ripley, W. Va., he moved to Flagler County 51 years ago from Charleston, W. Va. He owned Water Oak Service Station for 16 years and operated the business until his retirement in 1965.

He was a member of Bunnell Masonic Lodge No. 200 F&AM and Past Master and Past Patron of Order Eastern Star Chapter 93, Bunnell. He was a member of Morocco Temple, Jacksonvil1e and Masonic York Rite Bodies Daytona Beach.

He is survived by his wife, Helen, Bunnell; two daughters, Mrs. Wilma Brock, Bunnell; and Mrs. Jeanette Mead, Charleston, W. Va.; one brother, Dr. Earl Shamblen, Charleston, W. Va.; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be at 3 p. m. Thursday at Espanola Cemetery with Rev. Charles Anders officiating. Masonic services will follow.
