Friends of Frederick W. Simms were surprised to learn of his death last Friday, October 19, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Burnsed on State Road No. 4, although he had been in ill health for some time.

Mr. Simms was born and reared in and around St. Augustine, having spent the greater part of his life in Hastings, where he was classed as one the best potato farmers.

At the age of 25, Mr. Simms married his boyhood sweetheart, Miss Marie Carter, daughter of "Uncle" John Carter, who just passed beyond last year. To this union was born three daughters, Mrs. Charles A. Burnsed of Bunnell; Mrs. Fred Sykes of Crescent City; and Mrs. Arthur Capo of St. Augustine.

Mr. Simms was left a widower in 1913. In 1917 he married Mrs. Agnes Allen of Cocoa. To this union was born one son, Fred Simms, Jr.

Mr. Simms is survived by his children and one brother only, his second wife having been dead five years.

During the last two years of his life he made his home with his daughters. He will always be remembered as one of sunny disposition, and was loved, by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held at the chapel in Craig Funeral Home in St. Augustine. Interment was made at Moccasin Branch in St. Ambrose Cemetery by the side of his first wife.
