Edward M. Spivey died early Thursday morning at his home, 2216 South Central Avenue, Flagler Beach, after a brief illness.

Mr. Spivey was born in Lake View, S. C., and had lived in Flagler Beach for the past 16 years, coming there from Fairmont, S. C. He was 65 years of age and was a retired farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Susan of Flagler Beach; a daughter, Mrs. H. Joseph Dittrick, Ormond Beach; 6 sons, Aubrey Spivey of Orlando, Gene Spivey of Flagler Beach, David Spivey of Wilmington, N. C., and Rev. Bryant Spivey of McCormick, S. C; Edwin and Edward Spivey both of Jacksonville; 2 sisters, Mrs. Charlie Hooks and Mrs. Clyde Hooks, Chadbourn, N. C; a brother, John Spivey of Darlington, S. C. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services were held at 11 o'clock Saturday morning from the First Baptist Church of Flagler Beach, with Rev. Max Hall, officiating. Interment was in Hope Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers were: T. K. McKnight, P. A. Edmonson, W. L. Wadsworth, R. L. McNab, and George Wickline.

Active pallbearers were his nephews, Carol Webster, John Bracey, Robert Spivey, Thomas Spivey, Roland Spivey, and Robert Floyd.

Arrangements were under the direction of Craig Funeral Home of Bunnell.
