THE FLAGLER TRIBUNE
Bunnell, Florida
Thursday, April 12, 1923

On Friday night last the body of John Swain was discovered near Orange Hammock, he having received a load of buck shot in the back of his head that resulted in almost instantaneous death.

Up to the present time no arrests have been made, although Sheriff Johnston and his deputies assert that dues have been obtained upon which arrests may be made at an early date.

The wife of the murdered man is under suspicion and is being closely watched. Also a colored man that has been on more or less friendly terms with the woman for some months back, and it is asserted by persons who know all parties to the crime - - or at least those suspected of being in some way implicated - - assert that the apprehension of the murderer is but a matter of a few days.
