George Lester Sweat Jr., 56, a retired logger and father of Bunnell Police Chief Roger Sweat, died Tuesday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Gainesville after a long illness. A native of Georgia, he had made his home in Bunnell for many years.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Master’s Memorial Chapel at Palatka, with Rev. Winston Butler, assisted by Rev. Paul Reeves, officiating.

Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Sweat was a veteran of World War II and a member of DAV Jim Booe Chapter 86 of Flagler Beach.

Survivors include his widow, Minnie Mildred of Bunnell; two daughters, Mrs. Calvin Baggett and Miss Bessie Sweat, both of Hastings; three sons, George L., C. Roger and Vim A., all of Bunnell; five sisters; four brothers and 10 grandchildren.
