Colonel Ilia Andreyevitch Tolstoy died Wednesday night in a New York City hospital following a lengthy illness.

He was one of the founders of Marineland of Florida, world famous marine attraction and research center. Responsible for the design and construction of the facility, Colonel Tolstoy served as its general manager until 1942. He was also a major stockholder in the parent corporation, Marineland, Inc .and a member of the hoard of directors.

During the past ten years Tolstoy served as an unofficial United Nations Ambassador for Far East dignitaries.

Although he maintained residence at Marineland, Tolstoy lived in New York City for the past several years.
