Peter Tomasello, Sr., an Austrian immigrant who rose from a lumber camp job to prominence in industry and politics, died at his home in Orlando Wednesday.

Mr. Tomasello, who came to Florida in 1881 from Austria, was an extensive lumber operator in West Florida many years ago. About 15 years ago he and two of his sons owned and operated a turpentine and sawmill business here at what is now known as Dinner Island. The place was named Tomasello while they operated their business there.

Survivors include three sons, Peter Tomasello, Jr., of Okeechobee, former speaker of the Florida House of Representatives and who was a candidate for governor in the elections of two years ago; A. D. Tomasello of Bartow; and Dewey Tomasello of Kissimmee.
