Dr. John Hoagland Vermilye of Flagler Beach passed away at two o’clock Saturday afternoon at the Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach where he had been for several weeks following a long illness.

Dr. Vermilye was a retired U. S. Veterans Administration physician and had served at veterans hospitals in Texas, California, Maine, Nebraska, Arkansas and Florida. He was on the staff at the Lake City Veteran’s Hospital for a number of years before retiring in 1946.

Born in Brooklyn, N. Y., Dr. Vermilye was graduated from the medical school at Emory University, Atlanta. He was 63 years of age. He was a Mason and a Shriner.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock from the Baggett-McIntosh Chapel in Daytona Beach with Father Fleming of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church officiating. Burial followed in Bellvue Memorial Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alice L. Vermilye of Flagler Beach; one step-daughter, Mrs. John Gallagher of New York City and Miami; also two grandsons.
