THE FLAGLER TRIBUNE
Bunnell, Florida
Thursday, March 3, 1949

Lugene and Eugene, 3-monthold twin Negro boys, sons of Catherine Walker, 24-year-old mother at Orange Hammock, were suffocated in bed at their home early Wednesday morning.

The deaths were investigated by a coroner jury which came to a verdict that the twins lost their lives from suffocation at the hands of unknown parties. The mother told the jury that she had breast-fed both infants around daylight, but that when she awakened after sunup she found both dead. All three were sleeping in the same bed.

The father of the twins deserted them and the mother before they were born, it was revealed.
