Lewis E. Ward, 75, of Palatka and father of H. L. (Cracker) Ward of Bunnell, died at a Palatka hospital Friday night after an illness of several weeks

A native of New Harmony, Ind. he went to Palatka 31 years ago from Orange City. He was a retired foreman with the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad. He was a veteran of the Spanish-American War and a member of the First Baptist Church and the Sanford Lodge of the IOOF.

Survivors, besides his son here, are his wife, Mrs. Cora M. Ward and a daughter, Mrs. Clinton Hancock of Palatka; a half-sister, Mrs. Oscar Watson and two half brothers, Roy and Will Ward of New Harmony, Ind., and one grandson.

Funeral services were held at Masters Memorial Chapel Sunday, with Dr. H. K. Masteller, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Palatka.
