THE FLAGLER TRIBUNE
Bunnell, Florida
Thursday, March 31, 1927

George Wolfe, a former resident of Daytona Beach and for the past three years of Flagler Beach, died suddenly Tuesday morning while on his way to the Hawley Grocery Store on Central Avenue in Flagler Beach where he spent most of his time. He had been picked up by a passing car and was giving the details of a little trouble he had encountered in his flower and vegetable garden, when his head fell forward and he passed quietly away.

Mr. Wolf was born in New York City 78 years ago, was of Irish descent and spent almost a life time as a sailor, making many trips around the world and finally locating in Daytona Beach. Here he lost his home and was taken in by the F. F. Hawley family and treated with tenderness and care, as became his age. On removing to Flagler Beach, Mr. Hawley brought Mr. Wolfe with him and let him amuse himself planting vegetables and flowers. A trip was made to New York a few years ago but no trace could he find of his relatives, although he expected to make the trip again this summer to look for them.

Among his effects a note was found, written recently, which said: "Think of me in your dreams of Flagler Beach."

The funeral services were held at the Baptist church and Reverend Long of Bunnell gave an impressive sermon. Jesus, Lover of My Soul, and Nearer My God to Thee, were beautifully rendered by Dr. A. H. Gravel. At the grave, flowers grown by Mr. Wolfe were placed on his casket.

Mr. and Mrs. Hawley gratefully acknowledge the kindness of friends and neighbors.
