ALACHUA - Effie Lee Hope of Alachua died Wednesday at Surrey Place in Ocala. She was 79. 

Mrs. Hope was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse in pediatrics at Shands at the University of Florida. 

She was born in Bonifay, graduated from Santa Fe Community College Nursing College, and moved from Gainesville to Alachua eight years ago. 

Mrs. Hope was a member of the Philadelphia Worldwide Church of God and the American Association of Retired Persons. 

She was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Umbreit. 

Survivors include two sons, Mack Hope of Alachua and Lenard Umbreit of Sandersonville, Ga.; two daughters, Melba Hope of Ocala and Frances Moore of Sandersonville, Ga.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
