DOERUN -- John Phillip Barker, 68, of 987 Doerun Road, Doerun, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, at Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Brian Tease officiating.

Mr. Barker was born Jan. 4, 1936, in Perry, Taylor County, Fla., to the late Beulah Porter Barker and the late Phillip Barker. He retired from the U.S. Marines as a master sergeant. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Gerry Hart Barker of Doerun; his stepmother, Laverne Barker of Melbourne, Fla.; one son, John Phillip Barker III of Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter, Katherine Lynn Cox of Tallahassee, Fla.; one half-brother, Myron Barker of Melbourne, Fla.; three grandchildren, Sarah McCranie, Ashley McCranie and Hannah Lindsey Barker; and one great-grandchild, Hunter Bennett.

Cobb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
