Edward Lee Bourne, Jr.

Tamassee, SC - Edward Lee "Butch" Bourne, Jr., 70, husband of Susan Lynn Ehrhardt Bourne for thirty years, of 110 Lake Ridge Lane, Tamassee, passed away Monday, May 10, 2021, at Oconee Memorial Hospital.

A native of Daytona Beach, FL, Mr. Bourne was the son of the late Edward Lee Bourne, Sr. and Suzanne League Bourne. Lee worked for Hobart as a technician and retired as a Branch Manager after 30 years. He was part of the R.O.M.E.O. (Retired Old Men Eating Out) Hiking Club and enjoyed fishing, boating, cooking, band and orchestra. Lee always had a project going and loved playing the trumpet. He was formerly a city commissioner for Bunnell, FL in Flagler County, FL and was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.

Lee loved the Lord, serving various churches throughout the years playing his trumpet for services and singing in the choir. He played his trumpet in the Praise Band at Bunnell Methodist Church as well as the Daytona Beach Concert Band. He considered himself an avid fisherman. He loved to explore "his" lake and sometimes rather than catching a fish, he would inadvertently catch himself. Many weekends he would relax by "loafering" taking long drives exploring new areas and the mountains.

He loved his children and would often be found telling them stories and giving advice. He always had a project, fixing or tinkering something around the house. He loved to cook for his family and he would make his famous paella for them. His family will miss him dearly, but they know he is spending his days doing what he loved best-relaxing and fishing.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Bourne is survived by his children: LeAnn Yow (Scott), Amanda Bourne, Travis Bourne (Heather), Emily Head (Michael), Heather Howell (Shane) and Jason Taylor (Dina); sisters: Betty Lynn Ingram, Anne Johnston and Katherine Brown; grandchildren: Koby, Andrew, Noah, Jason Jr., Natalie, Rosie, Mackenzie, Ethan, Ben, Parker, Madelyn, Ashton, Willow, Boaz, Logan, Olivia, and Mariah; great-grandchild: Adam, which all called him Papa Lee.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at St. Luke United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 607 E Main St, Walhalla, SC 29691

Davenport Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
