Born February 1, 1949, in St. Augustine, Florida died June 18, 2023 Baxley, Georgia.  He attended school and graduated from Bunnell High school in Bunnell, Florida in 1968. Served in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1973 at Whiteman Air Force Base in Warrensburg, Missouri. He attended college at Central Missouri State University. He also served in the Missouri National Guard in 1976 in the 1139th Military Police company where he was stationed at Lone Jack, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his older brother Howard Eugene Bowers, his father Jesse Eugene Bowers and mother Sarah Francis Lee. He was the grandson of Ammorette Claire Deen of Baxley, Georgia. He is survived by his wife Marianne Wood Bowers. Sons Robert Eugene Bowers of Baxley, Georgia, and Jesse Benjamin Bowers (Nicole) of Prospect, OR. One stepdaughter, Sheri Jo Powers Leeper Christian (Dallas) of St. Louis, MO. Seven grandchildren, Benjamin Leeper, Jade Bowers and Erik Bowers (twins), Kyle Donoho, David Donoho, Chance Donoho, Ashton Donoho. 

Six first cousins, Bill Bowers Jr. (Deloris), Elizabeth B. Hall (Randall), Cherry Platt (Richard deceased), Joy Davis. Also, Lorraine W. Minchew (deceased) and Jimmie DuPont (deceased). Many great -grandchildren and assorted nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Henry was a football fan, playing football in high school and a fan of the Georgia Bulldogs. He was also a fan of NASCAR attending many races in Daytona. He was a history buff and admirer of his father and uncle Bill Bowers as both served in World War II in the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and helped many years as assistant Judge in the big buck contest while it was held by his cousins Lewis Parker and Bill Parker Jr..  Henry and his wife were also leaders with the Cub Scouts and served on the Boy Scout Committee for Pack and Troop 472 in Baxley. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Baxley.
The memorial service will be held Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. from First United Methodist Church with Reverend Steve Meguiar and Nita Crump officiating.

After the service, a meal will be provided at First United Methodist Church for all family and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Boy Scout Troop 472 in Baxley.
