Graveside service for George F. Clegg, 81, Haw Creek, who passed away at home on Dec. 24, 2007, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Seville Cemetery.

The family will be receiving friends at the First United Methodist Church of Bunnell, today (Thursday, Dec. 27), from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. George was born in Haw Creek, May 6, 1926.

He was a retired cabbage farmer and rancher. He was a lifelong resident of Flagler County and an Army veteran of World War II (Pacific). George graduated from Bunnell High School where he was a member of the band and Future Farmers of America, later serving as an advisor to the FFA. He was a past-president of Flagler County Chamber of Commerce and a member of the original Planning and Zoning Board of Flagler County.

He was a past member of the Kiwanis International, past president of Flagler County Farm Bureau, member of the Flagler County Cattleman's Association, a member of the V.F.W. and served a number of years on the board of directors of Citizens Bank of Bunnell (now Bank of America). He served as a trustee and chairman of the building program of the First United Methodist Church. Mostly, he was a godly man who was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rebecca Davis Clegg and son, Charles.

He is survived by wife, Kathy; son, David and Wanda Clegg; daughter, Susan and Earl Rice II; grandchildren, Becky Robinson, John Clegg, Holle Rice and Charles Rice; stepdaughters, Beth and Billy Higginbotham and Titia Knight.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jack Clegg and sister, Elizabeth Gatlin. He is survived by his sister, Ruth Townsend; brother, Frank Clegg; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
