Nathan Edward “Ned” Davis 

RED BAY — Nathan Edward “Ned” Davis, passed away Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Red Bay Hospital. He was born to Benjamin Nathan and Gennell Lee Davis May 19, 1928, in Bunnell, Florida.

He graduated from West Memphis, Arkansas where he received a scholarship in football and basketball to attend Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville, Mississippi. He was voted Mr. Northeast and was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in September 2014. Ned was plant manager for Blue Bell, Inc. for 27 years and had served on the Red Bay City Council for two terms.

He enjoyed watching all sports and attending games where his grandchildren played, but especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Red Bay and was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in Tokyo, Japan during the Korean War. 

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. today, November 18th at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay with Reverend Yohan Hong officiating. Burial will be in Belmont City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Alabama will be in charge of arrangements. 

He is survived by his wife, Willard Pounds Davis of Red Bay; three daughters, Judith Adams (Shane) and Dawn James (Troy), all of Red Bay, and Teresa Senter, of Belmont; three grandchildren, Kristi Senter, of Iuka, Eddie Peden (Jessica), of Red Bay, and Anna Graham (Andy), of Fairview; and four great-grandchildren, Kylie Brooke Peden, Katelin Lane Senter, Klarke Davis Senter, and Emma Grace Graham. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Julia Clark Davis; and a son-in-law, Jackie Senter.

Pallbearers will be Mike Clark, Jeff Clark, David Clark, Milton Gattis, Ricky Dees, and Larry Creekmore.

Visitation will be today, November 18th, 1-3 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Alabama.
