Claude S Deen, Sr, 55 of Luke Street, Christmas, FL, died there Sunday. A native of Bulow, FL, he moved to Christmas six years ago from Bunnell. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bunnell. Mr Deen was a millwright machinist in electronics industry and was a member of the Millwright and Machinery Erectors Local 1510, Tampa, a Brother of I A M Gateway Lodge, Jacksonville, and was formerly superintendent of Public Instruction (NOTE: he was chairman of the board, not superintendent) in Bunnell, and past president of the Chamber of Commerce in Bunnell.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs Irma Deen, of Christmas; two sons, Capt Claude S Deen, Jr, SAC, Tucson, Ariz; and Joy M Deen, of Daytona Beach, a daughter, Claudia Malo, Ormond Beach; stepson SSgt Edward Ruggles, USMC, Newport, NC; a stepdaughter, Patricia Bennett, Jacksonville, brothers, Lester Deen, Miami; James Deen of Hialeah; Judge Deen, Bunnell and Stanley Deen, West Palm Beach; sisters, Mrs Thelma Walters, Flagler Beach, Mrs Francis Wetherington, Bunnell, and Mrs Naomi Hoffman, Merritt Island; his grandmother, Mrs Susie Ridell, Bunnell, and 12 grandchildren.

Claude S. Deen, Christmas, Florida, a longtime resident of Flagler County, died early Sunday morning at Orange Memorial Hospital, Orlando, from injuries sustained in, an automobile accident June 20 at Orlando. He had been hospitalized since the accident and had been an extensive care patient at the hospital the past three weeks.

He was born in Flagler County at Bulow and moved to Christmas several years ago from Bunnell. He was a former Flagler County School Board member; member of Bunnell First Baptist Church; and Millwright and Machinery Erectors Local 1510 Tampa. He served as a lieutenant in the Merchant Marine during WW II.

Survivors include his wife, Irma, Christmas; a daughter, Mrs. Claudia Malo, Ormond; two sons, Sisco Deen, US Air Force, Tucson, Arizona; and Joy Deen, Ormond; four brothers, Lester Deen and James E. Deen, both of Miami; Stanley Deen, West Palm Beach; and Duane A. Deen, Bunnell; three sisters, Mrs. Thelma Walters, Flagler Beach; Mrs. Frances Wetherington, Bunnell; and Mrs. Naomi Hoffman, Merritt Island.

Funeral services were Wednesday morning at Carey-Hand Funeral Home Chapel, Orlando. Graveside services were at 2 p. m. Wednesday at Hope Cemetery with the Rev. T. Shelton Brooks, officiating.

Active pallbearers were Roscoe Lynn, C. B. Eisenbach, Lee Blakely, Gene Bowers, Shelton Barber and Ralph Harbert. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Forsyth, Kenneth Hunter, Clare Biddle Clyde Lewis, Melton Pellicer and Jimmy Hargett.
