Lovelace C. Gordon, 69, Mobile, Ala., died February 9, 2007, at home. A native of Bunnell, and a resident of Mobile, Gordon received a B.A. degree from F.S.U. in music, after serving in the U.S. Navy.

He moved with his wife, Jane, to Mobile in 1963, accepting positions as band director of Azalea Road Middle School, and as a member of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra.

Summers, Gordon captained the charter boat "Teacher's Pet" in Panama City, Fla., for seven years. He was the owner of M&S Music Store for 45 years.

He was an accomplished French hornist and played for many symphonies, including Mobile, Gulf Coast, Pensacola, Meridian, Mobile Opera, and Jackson, Florida Symphony.

His father, Clarence P. Gordon, his mother, Toulou L. Gordon, and his sister, Margaret Worley, all preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Adams Gordon, Mobile; sons, Gregory Gordon and Powell Gordon, both of Mobile; daughters, Beth South and Margaret VanLoock, both of Mobile; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Julia Pendarvis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
