Elizabeth J. "Betty" Turberville

Betty, as she was known by everyone, passed away April 9, 2015 in Bonifay, FL after a long illness, which took her away from all who knew and loved her, much too soon.

Betty was the eldest of 6 children. As a child, she attended St. Paul's Catholic School, and after the family moved to Bunnell, where she and her siblings attended school. Betty graduated from high school at Bunnell in 1954. After graduation, she attended Massey Business College, where she began her career in bookkeeping and accounting.

Betty is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jesse Louis Turberville, (known as JR). They lived for the past 9 years in Bonifay, where they built their home and farmed their acreage. Prior to moving to Bonifay, they lived for many years in the home they built in Samsula, where many family members also had property and businesses, and especially close to the grandmother everyone loved. Over the years she was an accountant / bookkeeper for many local businesses, including Stockton, Whatley & Davin, Cocoa, FL, CocaCola, Hinds and Gowen Egg Farm, and for 28 yrs for Mary's Flower Shoppe (owned by her sister, Mary), New Smyrna Speedway for Clyde & Robert Hart, plus many other small bussinesses in the area. She enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing, gardening and sharing her canning goods with family and friends.

Betty was predeceased by her parents, Charlotte and Laurence Gowen, younger brother, Michael Gowen, a beloved nephew, Frank Satterwhite.

Left to love and remember her are her sister, Mary Foster (James), sister Grace Davis (James), sister, Kathy Dover (Eric), brother Laurence Gowen II (Gail), sister-in-law Sandra Gowen (Michael, deceased), and so many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Memorial Services and Internment will be at a later date at her request.
