Mona Violet Carroll 60, of San Jose, died October 25, 2004. She was born March 22, 1944, in Florida. Mona graduated with honors from San Jose State University at 42 after spending her earlier years staying home to raise her two children, nourish her garden, and teach painting. She went on to have a very successful career as a financial planner with American Express Financial Advisors. 

Mona loved to go on long road trips in her Corvette, was an avid scuba diver, loved to go camping and just lived life to the fullest. 

Survivors include her daughter, Heather Mona Carroll of San Bruno; her son, K Wayde Carroll of Grass Valley; her husband of 41 years, Wayde Kenneth Carroll; two grandchildren, Jack and Claire, whom were the new lights in Mona's life; her mother Mona Era Hornsby of Port Charlotte, FL; brother, Winston D. Hornsby of Port Charlotte, FL; and brother, Michael H. Hornsby of Punta Gorda, FL. 

Mona leaves a vast hole on the Earth where her light once shined so bright and will be missed dearly by her husband, children & friends. 

A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, at the Lima Family Milpitas-Fremont Mortuary, 48800 Warm Springs Blvd., Fremont, California.
