Walton Matthew Kinney

We are sad to announce the passing of Walton M. Kinney, 88, a lifetime resident of Bunnell, FL. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 3, 2023. To many, this iconic gentle giant was known as Uncle Walton, Daddy & Grandpa.

Walton was born on September 22, 1934, in Palatka, Florida, to the late Walton John Kinney and Grace Davis Kinney. He graduated from Bunnell High School and married Margie Durrance. Walton enlisted into the United States Army in March of 1955, and served our nation honorably, before coming home and doing what he loved, ranching and farming.

Walton enjoyed nascar, flying, boating, hunting and fishing. His boat’s name was VO+H20, he was also known to tilt one back.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, loudly proclaiming, “Wow, what a ride!” Gone but never forgotten.

Walton is survived by the mother of his children, Margie Kinney McCraney; sons, Matt Kinney and his wife Dawn, Johnny Kinney and his wife Heather; daughters, Cheryl Shedd, Lisa Lennon and her husband Reggie; sister, Anna Spaulding; 14 grandchildren, Walton Kinney, Gail Underwood, Summer Campbell, John Shedd, Tabitha Kinney, Tiffany Rodenborn, John Kinney, Preston Kinney, Clark Kinney, Blaine Kinney, Lacie Kinney, Taylor Hirschi, Dalton Kinney, Wyatt Kinney.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Espanola Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held immediately following interment, at Walton’s house. Please bring a side dish, as BBQ and drinks will be provided.

The family of Mr. Kinney entrusted his arrangements to Clymer Funeral Home & Cremations.
