FLAGLER MAN IN NAVY IS REPORTED KILLED IN ACTION

Parents Here Receive wire from Navy Officials This Week

Another Flagler county man has been lost in the service of' his country - MARION GORDON MCCRANEY, 3rd class torpedo man in the U. S. navy.

A wire from naval authorities to his parents here, Mr. and Mrs. M. L. McCraney, stated that he had been "killed in action" but the date nor place not stated.

Mr. McCraney was 23 years of age and enlisted in the navy in October, 1938 and had been in foreign service for some time.

He was born near Hastings, but spent most of his life in Flagler county, receiving his education in the local schools.

Lost in Action (cutline)

MARION GORDON MCCRANEY, torpedo man, 3c and son of Mr. and Mrs. M. L. McCraney of Bunnell, was killed in action on November 13 when the U. S. Cruiser Atlanta was sunk in the Solomon's area.

The parents received notice from the navy that he was lost several weeks ago, but only last week were they told of when and where - after the Sinking of the Atlanta and other ships had been announced.
