BUNNELL - Michael John Mikulka, 51, of Bunnell, a treat¬ent plant operator with the city of Bunnell, died Friday at his place of employment.

Mr. Mikulka was born in Daytona Beach and was a lifetime resident of this area. He attended Santa Maria Del Mar Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, nature, woodworking, classic rock, country music, drag racing and stock car racing.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Vanessa; his mother, Ruth Mikulka, Bunnell; two brothers, Jim Akins, Bunnell, and David Mikulka, Flagler Beach; and two sisters, Donna Bubba, Korona, and Debra Flynt, Bunnell.

Craig-Flagler Palms, Flagler Beach, is in charge.

Funeral service for Michael John Mikulka, 51, Bunnell, who passed away October 6, 2006, will be Thursday at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Rd. South, Flagler Beach. His family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until time of service Thursday.

Mr. Mikulka was born in Daytona Beach and was a lifelong resident of Flagler County. He worked for the City of Bunnell as a treatment plant operator. Prior to his employment with the city, he was the caretaker of The Princess Place. He was very creative with arts, crafts, and woodworking. He also enjoyed fishing, nature, NASCAR, attending drag racing events, classic rock and country music. Mr. Mikulka truly loved his family and treasured his friends and co-workers. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Vanessa; mother, Ruth C. Mikulka, Bunnell; mother-in-law, Betty J. Dufrene, Gheens, La.; two sisters, Donna Bubba, Korona, and Debra Flynt and her husband, Jim, Bunnell; two brothers, Jim Akins and his wife, Brenda, Bunnell, and David W. Mikulka and his wife, Theresa, Flagler Beach; and many nieces and nephews. He lovingly served as guardian designee to Kyle and Shane Schwarz.

Arrangements are in the care and trust of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home.
