James Herbert Rodgers
Mr. James Herbert Rodgers, age 80, of Macclenny, Florida, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021, at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville. He was born on September 27, 1940, in Bunnell, Florida, to James Clifford and Geneva (Ambrose) Rodgers.
Mr. Rodgers had lived in Jacksonville before moving to Baker County 56 years ago. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, Papa, and “Bump.” Herb was a friend to so many and loved the Lord. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a salesman with Mackoul Distributors for 37 years before his retirement. Herb was an avid hunter, enjoyed golf, fishing, and the great outdoors. He especially loved watching the kids play ball and watching his son coach football.
Mr. Rodgers was preceded in death by his parents; son, Paul Rodgers; and grandson, Justin Rodgers.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Patsy Rodgers of Macclenny; sons, Darrell Rodgers (Tammy) of Macclenny and Jamie Rodgers (Ashley) of Adel, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Lisa Rodgers of Starke; grandchildren, Jarrell (Savannah), Dylan, Caleb, Lainie, Aaron, and Lexie; and great-grandbaby, Palmer.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at Blackburn-Curry Funeral Chapel.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Macclenny with Pastor David Griffis and Pastor Eddie Griffis officiating.
