Greensboro, North CarolinaGREENSBORO— Mr. Alexander "Russell" Thompson, 83, died Monday, March 21, 2005, at Moses Cone Hospital.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in Guilford Memorial Park.
Born Oct. 30, 1921, to the late Alexander George Thompson and Mary Russell Thompson, in Bunell, Fla., Mr. Thompson was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid art lover and designer and earned his master's degree in fine arts. Russell loved all flowers and plants, both inside and outside. His quick wit, intelligence and abounding sense of humor charmed all who knew him which made it a pleasure to be in his company.
Russell is survived by his sister, Patsy Spence; nephew Bill Spence; niece Jeanie Church; great-nieces, Cara and Danielle Church and Megan Spence; and a great-nephew, Gideon Spence.
The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
