Joseph E. Tidwell, 65, Merritt Island, entered into rest on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 after a long battle with cancer.
He had served his country in the U.S.A.F. during the Vietnam Conflict; he graduated from BCC with an associate degree in Welding & Mechanical Engineering, and worked at KSC for 43 years and loved all aspects of the Space Program. Joe was a member and Deacon of Clearlake First Baptist Church, Cocoa, FL where he loved serving his Lord and church family for 44 years.
Mr. Tidwell is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Katherine Tidwell; son, David J. (Rhonda) Tidwell; and daughter, Sonya (John) Tidwell-Riggs. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Michael, Stephanie, Tammy & April; brothers, Harry Tidwell, Larry (Betty) Tidwell; and a sister, Shirley Hollingsworth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry & Ida Mae Tidwell and a brother, Donald B. Lane.
Family will receive friends Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home, followed by funeral services Monday, June 8, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Clearlake First Baptist Church, 1640 Minnie St. Cocoa, FL. Entombment will follow at Brevard Memorial Park.
