Elayne Tucker Wadsworth, 61, passed away Saturday morning at her home in Waynesville, NC.

She was the daughter of the late Doris and Leslie Tucker of Bunnell, Florida. Elayne was a special person who committed her life to truly caring about and helping everyone she met. She was a loving wife and mother, always putting her faith, family, and friends above all else. This was evident from the love and care she put into every relationship she made in her life. As a realtor and as owner of Curves for Women, Elayne cherished relationships first, before helping her friends buy a house or reach their personal fitness goals. She was very much like her father having, "never met a stranger". People always said that she could find out a person's life story while standing in the checkout line at the grocery store.

Elayne is survived by her husband of 42 years, John Wadsworth of Waynesville; and her children, John Wadsworth Jr. and his wife, Danielle, from Auburn, Alabama, Heath Wadsworth and his wife, Devon, of Raleigh, and Joy Sollie and her husband, Eric, of Waynesville. In addition Elayne is survived by her brother, Martin Tucker and his wife, Suzanne, of Bunnell, Florida; three sisters, Carla Taylor of Bunnell, Florida, Leah Montez and her husband, Orlando, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Betty Ann Hayden of Flagler Beach, Florida. Once Elayne became a grandmother she was forever known as "Nana". Her pride and joy were her six grandchildren; John Brady Wadsworth III, William Tucker Wadsworth, and Beth Ann Wadsworth, children of John and Danielle; Kayleigh Elizabeth Wadsworth, daughter of Heath and Devon; and Taylor Grace Sollie and Hunter Garrett Sollie, children of Joy and Eric. Elayne wanted to leave her grandchildren with memories of family get togethers, laughter, unconditional love, and a timeless bit of advice – "Don't count the days, make the days count".

Elayne was a member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesville. One of her life goals was to make sure she would always be able to impact young people's lives. To memorialize Elayne and to accomplish her wish an Endowment Scholarship was established at the First United Methodist Church of Waynesville (828-456-9475) 566 South Haywood Street, Waynesville, NC. 28786. The family request that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the scholarship fund in Elayne's honor.

A celebration of Elayne's life will be held at the First Methodist Church of Waynesville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5th with the Reverend Sandy Giles officiating. A time to remember Elayne with family and friends will immediately follow the service in the Christian Growth Center. Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville is in charge of the arrangements.
