Lew was born at Flagler Hospital in 1939, the son of Angela and Lewis E. Wadsworth, Jr., and he was raised in Bunnell, Florida. He left home to attend the University of Georgia, where he majored in Business Administration and graduated with honors. At Georgia, he became a member of Alpha Tau Omega, and he remained an enthusiastic supporter of his fraternity brothers and the "Bulldogs" the rest of his life.

Lew excelled as a businessman and entrepreneur, principally in lumber and related industries and most recently as a real estate developer. He was president of Wadsworth Building Components in Bunnell, and he planned and oversaw Sawmill Estates in Bunnell and Double Bridges Equestrian Community in Hastings. His expertise in the timber industry took him to places as far away as Australia and Russia. He was a member of the "International Order of the Hoo-Hoo" (a lumberman's fraternity), the Florida Forestry Association (where he served on the board of directors), and the Florida Lumber Dealers Association (where he was once voted "Mr. Treerific"). He also served on the board of directors of Daytona Beach Community College.

Lew was an outdoorsman who fished and hunted, and throughout his life he loved dogs. Later in life he became involved with horses, first with thoroughbred racing through his daughter and later with the equestrian sport of dressage with his wife.

Lew is survived by his wife, Lynnette; his sister, Virginia, of Boulder, Colorado; his daughter, Britt, of Ocala, Florida; his son, Lewis; his daughter-in-law, Karen O Yee; and his granddaughters, Sofia and Athena, of Boston, Massachusetts; and many cousins and relations.

A celebration of Lew's life will be held at Craig Funeral Home in Saint Augustine, Florida at 3 p.m. on Monday the 20th of February.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Golden Retriever Rescue of Mid-Florida, Inc., P.O. Box 1449, Goldenrod, FL 32733-1449. Craig Funeral Home Crematory Memorial Park, 1745 Old Dixie Highway, St. Augustine, FL.
