Gary Carson Watson



Gary Carson Watson 73, of Flagler County, passed away March 8, 2023 in hospital surrounded by his family. Gary was a kind and thoughtful soul and will be missed and remembered by the many lives he touched. His family and friends hope he is up in the heavenly sea wetting his hook and talking about catching the big one.

Gary was born in Hamilton, Ohio on October 6,1949 to Fred and Virginia Watson. His family moved to Flagler County when Gary was 5 years old. Gary graduated from Bunnell High School class of 1967. Upon graduation he entered the United States Army. He served in Korea for three years and received an honorable discharge with the rank of Sargent E5.

After discharge Gary started Watson’s Masonry business and built many of the homes in Flagler County. He served his community and taught adult education a new aspiring block masons. Gary went on to work for the State of Florida as a state weight inspector. He would regularly be seen at the scale house at I-95 and US 1. Gary finished out his working career in the Flagler County Tax Collector office. He was supervisor of driver’s licenses. Gary retired and has enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was known for his cooking and baking. Apple pie and Carrot cake were his specialty.

Gary is preceded in death by his Mother Virginia and Father George Moody and Sister Claudia Maybeck.

He is survived by wife Sue Watson and Son Stewart Settle and grandchildren Brittany, Akirra and Cayden.

A celebration of life will be announced in the future.
