James Tyrone "Ty" Whitaker went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 1st after a brief illness.

Though born in Langdale, AL, Ty had been a resident of Flagler County since 1959, and considered Bunnell home. Ty graduated from Bunnell High School, Class of 1970. After serving a tour of duty in Vietnam, Ty came back to Flagler County where he worked for ITT Development Company as a surveyor, and then went on to work and retire from Rinker/Cemex.

The Whitaker family was well known in Flagler County for their love of softball. Ty played for many years on county softball leagues. He loved hunting, fishing, NASCAR, cooking and most importantly, was a diehard Georgia Bulldog fan in a land of Gators. His most cherished treasure was his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, JT and Lovetta Whitaker.

Ty is survived by his wife, Sandra of 43 years, sons Joshua Whitaker (Heather), Jeremy Whitaker (Tanya), daughters Denise Boyett Cannon (Adam) and Lee Boyett Lavender (Jimmy), ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, brother Tab Whitaker, sister Tami Rawlins (Jack), five nieces and four nephews.

Services will be held graveside, Saturday, August 4th @ 11:00 a.m. at Espanola Cemetery, 3570 County Rd 205, Bunnell, FL 32110.

Arrangements are in the care and trust of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home.
