Mr. Donnie Hickman, age 68, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility in Statesboro. The Girard native was educated in the Sardis-Girard-Alexander Schools and was a veteran in the U.S. Army. Donnie was employed with Goldkist for several years and then with Getz Pest Control, moving with the company to Statesboro in 1969. He owned and operated Bulloch Pest Control from the mid 1970's until selling the company in 1995.

Additionally, Donnie worked with King Finishing Company for many years until the early 1980's. In 1987 he began his career in law enforcement, retiring in 2010. He was a Mason and a member of the Ogeechee Lodge #213 F&AM. Donnie was a member of the Emit Grove Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and tending to his garden.

Mr. Hickman was preceded in death by his parents, Willie W. and Evangeline Hickman, his first wife, Janette Waters Hickman and his father-in-law, Chaudowin Morris.

Surviving are his wife, Eva Morris Hickman of Brooklet; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Renee Hickman of Waynesboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Richard Watson of Waycross; his grandsons, David Hickman and Jacob Hickman of Waynesboro; his mother-in-law, Carolyn Morris of Baxley; his siblings, Hazel and Marvin Saxon of Savannah, Raleigh and Shirley Hickman of Long Beach, MS, Helen and Billy Davis of Hephzibah, Cecil and Rebecca Hickman of Waynesboro, Thomas and Joan Hickman of Brooklet and Wanda and Stephen White of Girard; several nieces and nephews and his loving dog "Mick".

Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1:00pm in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro with Rev. Tim Huffingham officiating.

Graveside services and burial will be Friday at 4:00pm at the Deen Cemetery in Baxley with Calvin Morris officiating.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Cowart, Ben Allen Cowart, Richard Cowart, Brad Hickman, Jason White, Damon Davis, John David Sellers and Henry Morris.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
