John Wyly Baker, 47, of Franklin, passed away Monday, July 13, 2009.
 
Born in Jacksonville, FL, he and his wife Tamra adopted Franklin (NC) as their Home 2 ½ years ago. Prior to moving to Franklin, he worked for Aspect Software Co. as Director of Implementations which took him all around the world. During his travel he enjoyed learning about and experiencing the different cultures.   Most recently Wyly was earning his RN degree from Southwestern Community College and was working at Fidelia Eckerd Assisted Living in Highlands, North Carolina.
 
Wyly was an avid outdoorsman and had an immense love for his dogs; loved extreme sports like cave diving, white water kayaking, snowboarding, racecar driving, and mountain biking; was a gourmet cook and loved to entertain. He was a US Navy Veteran having served in the Persian Gulf War. Wyly was an active member of St. Agnes Episcopal Church of Franklin.
 
He is survived by his wife Tamra, his parents, Martha Jane and Henry A. Harris of Franklin and Jacksonville; two sisters, Shelley R. Tarbox and Marjorie Piersall; aunt, Carol Howard; several nieces and nephews and many cousins all of Jacksonville, FL. Wyly was preceded in death by his father, John Lee Baker.
 
Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2009 at St. Agnes Episcopal Church. Rev. Dorrie Pratt will officiate. Burial will be in the Dupont Family Cemetery at Matanzas in Flagler County, FL.
